Jese Rodriguez has dismissed the notion that he will be gunning for the top-scorer title at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, as his first concern is Spain winning.
La Rojita are into the Round of 16 of the competition hosted this year in Turkey top of their group thanks to wins over Group A opponents United States, Ghana and France.
The Real Madrid man has netted in each game and sits just one goal behind Portugal’s Bruma in the race to be tournament top-scorer.
“The important thing is the team, if they win, and if I score goals then all the better,” reflected Jese post-match.
“I do not care about being top goalscorer. In addition, there are many games still to play.
“We knew it would be very difficult as a game and that France would be a very tough opponent, but we have been superior.
“It is important that the players who see less minutes have performed well, that brings a lot to the group, I congratulate them.”
