Barcelona are reportedly preparing to go up against Real Madrid and Chelsea to try and sign Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney this summer.
The England striker was revealed in May as having asked for a second time to leave Old Trafford.
Ahead of showdown talks with new United manager David Moyes reportedly due this week, the 27-year-old has been suggested as the object of desire from Barca, Madrid and Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
The Sun report that all three are ready to enter bids of £25m, around €30m, to try and pick up the striker.
A Barcelona ‘insider’ is quoted by the English publication: “Rooney is precisely the type of attacker that would fit perfectly into the system.
“Defence starts from the front at Barca and Rooney works harder than anyone.
“His first touch, movement, control and vision are phenomenal and if he comes on the market then the club are certain to try to sign him.”
It is believed that the Catalans view Rooney as a like-for-like replacement for David Villa, who is expected to depart this summer.
