Italian midfielder Marco Verratti has congratulated Spain after La Roja defeated the Azzurrini 4-2 in the final of the Euro U-21 Championships.
A first half hat-trick from Thiago Alcantara and a second half penalty from Isco was enough to seal the win for Julen Lopetgeui's men.
And the Paris Saint-Germain playmaker has admitted that Spain were far superior.
“It was always going to be a difficult game,” he told Rai Sport. “We knew that right from the start.
“We took the field with the desire to win, but unfortunately we did not succeed.
“Spain were superior and we must congratulate them.”
