Rayo confirm CAS appeal

Rayo Vallecano have confirmed that they will take their appeal over a rejected application for a UEFA licence to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Hours after seeing fellow Spanish League outfit Malaga’s season long ban from European competition upheld by CAS, the Madrid minnows have released a statement confirming that it is their turn to travel out to Switzerland.

Malaga’s omission from Europe should hand Rayo their place in the Europa League, as the next best placed team in La Liga otherwise finishing outside of the European places, having posted in eighth.

However, it is provisionally Sevilla’s in ninth place, as Rayo have had an initial application and appeal to ascertain a UEFA licence for next season rejected, reportedly for not passing financial regulations required, due to debts held with other clubs.

“Knowing the negative resolution of the CAS appeal for Malaga, Rayo Vallecano reports that presently, they will appeal to CAS to obtain a UEFA licence so that they can compete in the Europa League next season,” Rayo’s brief statement released today read.
