Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm believes the appointment of Pep Guardiola will make the Germans even stronger next season.
The Bavarians had arguably the best season in their history last term, winning the Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup under Jupp Heynckes, – something no other German team had ever done – but Lahm insists there are even better times ahead.
“He is an experienced Coach who will make us even stronger,” the 29-year-old German international said in an interview with Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
“When somebody new comes in then we are all more awake, but last year’s success will not be a problem for the new boss. The current squad is perfect for someone like Guardiola and I can see more such beautiful years in front of us.”
Lahm maintains he does not know Guardiola’s plans for his new team but believes they will talk by phone before the first training session of the new season.
Guardiola will be officially unveiled as Bayern boss on June 26 and he will come up against former club Barcelona in a friendly on July 24, which is already a sell-out.
