Swansea City have confirmed that a deal to sign Jose Canas from Real Betis on a Bosman has been reached.
The midfielder was widely reported to be a target for the Premier League side back in the winter, after failing to agree an extension to his Betis contract.
Having failed to convince Betis to sell Canas to them in the January transfer window, it was seen that they had then reached a preliminary agreement to pick him up at no cost in the summer, at the expiry of his deal at the Benito Villamarin.
The 26-year-old has now been confirmed by the Welsh side as having signed a pre-contract agreement to move to the Liberty Stadium on July 1, with details on a contract with Swansea to be ratified after that.
Canas will become the latest Spanish-based player to move across to the Swans since Michael Laudrup became manager.
