Real Madrid now have dates available to play the prestigious Trofeo Bernabeu game before the start of next season.
President Florentino Perez said in March it would be difficult to organise the match due to a lack of dates, because at that time Madrid could have found themselves with commitments in the European Super Cup or the Supercopa de Espana.
However, defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League elimination at the hands of Borussia Dortmund has freed up some days in August for the fixture to take place.
Last season the clash with Millonarios had to be played on September 26 in front of a half empty stadium, with Madrid fielding a number of reserve and youth team players.
Although there is no official date for the start of the season, it is widely expected La Liga will commence on the weekend of August 18. On the other hand, the Supercopa de Espana is scheduled to take place on August 21 and 28, while the Spanish national team have a friendly pencilled in on August 14 in Guayaquil against Ecuador.
Consequently, Madrid now have the option to play the game in homage to its most illustrious President in the run-up to, or after, the Supercopa to avoid clashing with the Barcelona-Atletico match.
