Sergio Ramos has insisted that he 'respects' Jose Mourinho and the reasons behind the Portuguese Coach's departure.
The 50-year-old announced last week that he would leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, and the defender has claimed that the tactician has brought the best out of him personally.
“We respect the decision,” he told reporters. “Everyone is free to choose their own future.
“I only have good words for Mourinho.
“On a professional level, he is one of the best Coaches in the world and has helped me to compete at the highest level.
“I respect him on a personal level.
“From the beginning to the end we have had confidence in Mourinho – that is not the reason he is leaving.”
The Spain international then commented on rumours that Carlo Ancelotti or Jupp Heynckes could come in next season.
“They are two great Coaches. We do not know what will happen though.
“In football, we know each other, and we have colleagues who speak highly of both.
“The President will decide who the next Coach is.”
