Espanyol midfielder Joan Verdu is set to discuss a new contract with the club this week, according to reports.
The 30-year-old's current deal expires in June, and rumours had suggested that he would leave the Periquitos on a free transfer, with Atletico Madrid interest in making a move.
But Marca have claimed that the Periquitos will sit down with the playmaker and try to thrash out a new deal.
Talks earlier this term had reached a stalemate, but the newspaper has insisted that both parties are willing to try and come to an agreement.
