Barcelona B’s Gerard Deulofeu has been named in the latest Spain Under-20 squad, indicating that he won’t be going to the European Under-21 Championship.
The attacking winger has recently stepped up to La Rojita’s Under-21 level and played in three times in late 2012, managing a goal and an assist in Spain’s qualifying match against Croatia.
However, on from Spain reaching the European Under-21 Championship in Israel this coming summer, speculation is that Deulofeu will not be included, having been named today in the latest Under-20 squad.
That group face Paraguay on May 14 in Benidorm in a warm-up match ahead of their participation this summer at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Spain have been drawn against France, Ghana and the United States in Group A of the tournament, scheduled from June 21 to July 13.
Other notable names called up include Real Madrid Castilla’s Jese Rodriguez and Atletico Madrid’s Oliver Torres.
