Reports are that Barcelona will face a number of obstacles in trying to convince Valencia to part with goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
Barca are increasingly speculated as having decided to make a move for the 26-year-old this summer as a replacement for Victor Valdes, who is leaving either this year for a fee or next at the end of his contract that he won’t renew.
However, Mundo Deportivo assert that there are a number of challenges facing the Catalans in trying to sign the Spaniard.
Specifically, the player still has a contract at Mestalla until June 2015 and a buyout clause of €30m added to the belief that Los Che will be unwilling to part with him.
Despite Barca having the advantage of Valencia’s financial situation perhaps pressuring potential negotiations and that President Manuel Llorente, who viewed Guaita as untouchable, has resigned, Diego Alves’ situation is a factor to apparently consider.
The Brazilian is thought unhappy at the club and keen to leave in the summer, whilst reports in Valencia through the season have suggested that they are intent on raising cash through his sale.
Any move for the €7m-rated Alves would strengthen their determination to keep hold of Guaita and ease the financial strain.
Barca, who are thought to also be keen on reinforcing defence, midfield and attack in the summer, are understood to be unlikely to have a budget to negotiate close to Guaita’s buyout clause.
