Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is in no two minds about the task facing his club against Barcelona this week.
The French play host on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against La Blaugrana.
“We will try to eliminate Barcelona, that is our intention. We are in the quarter-finals, it is fantastic, but we will not stop,” Al-Khelaifi enthused in an interview with L’Equipe published today.
“We are realistic, we will be challenging the best team in the world, but our players are going to fight, they’ll give 200 per cent, because it will be more than a football game, it is a huge challenge, a global event.”
PSG boast a number of former Barca players in their ranks, as well as former Real Madrid man David Beckham.
“Signing him was one of the best decisions I have taken. He is fantastic, both on and off the field. He is an exceptional man, player and ambassador.
“We will talk to him [about renewing for next season]. Whatever his decision, we will support him.”
Al-Khelaifi was also asked on rumours linking the French with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I’m not saying that we won’t be signing any great players next summer, but we still have a season to end at our best before these issues.”
