Lucas Piazon does not believe that Malaga’s consecutive defeats are the result of fatigue, as they prepare for Atletico Madrid this weekend.
The Brazilian attacker took today’s Press conference and was asked of his views on why the Anchovies have dipped in recent games, losing 1-0 to Porto in the Champions League and 3-0 to Real Betis in La Liga.
“I do not believe our struggles are physical, we did not play our best football and it’s something that can happen in games, and it has been in recent games for us,” Piazon told reporters.
“Although, we did feel fatigue from the Porto game against Betis. The good news is that we have now had a full week to think, to put things in place and improve.
“We go into the Atletico game after two difficult defeats, two tough games that we did not return home from with wins.
“Now we have another tough match against Atletico, and we want the victory so as to maintain fourth place.
“We are calm, we want to maintain our place in the League, we will give our all in the Champions League too, and that tie is only at 0-1 so far.
“We have to focus on turning around these two recent defeats.”
On loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, the 19-year-old admitted that he is keen to play as much as possible.
“Playing minutes is important to me, but I think more about the team.
“Against Athletic I played pretty well, against Porto it was complicated but in the minutes I had I tried to help, and against Betis, Julio and I came on when it was already 3-0, which made it difficult, but I still tried to score.
“I’m happy to play, to try to help the team more and more.”
