Jose Angel has reflected that whilst he did consider leaving Real Sociedad this month, the club have told him he is valuable to them.
The promising full-back is midway through a season-long loan from Roma, but was linked through January with a move elsewhere, for his lack of playing time so far this term.
However, despite admitting that there was interest – rumoured to be from Getafe – the 23-year-old has confirmed he is staying at Anoeta.
“Let me be clear that I never said I wanted to leave La Real,” the full-back told Mundo Deportivo in an interview published today.
“Yes, there was interest from a team, but there was no agreement and I am delighted to be here. Without playing much it was natural to consider a change in scenery.
“Every player wants to play and if they do not, then none of them would be happy and yes I had doubts.
“But I do not decide, the club have made their choice and they believe I am valuable to them. I will try to improve in training and help as much as I can.
“I never came close to leaving, I’m happy to stay.”
