Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Emiliano Insua from Sporting CP on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Reports in Spain believe that the capital club have shelled out €3.5m for the 24-year-old Argentine full-back.
Atleti are known to have been in the market this month for cover at full-back, in light of Filipe Luis’ struggles to stay free from injury.
Insua, who has previous experience with Liverpool and Galatasaray, is expected to be in the Spanish capital by Monday to formalise his move with a medical examination.
Atleti were otherwise linked with Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira, but on Friday confirmed Insua’s arrival via a statement released on their official website.
