According to reports in Spain, Joan Verdu has close to agreeing to leave Espanyol for Atletico Madrid on a Bosman move next summer.
The playmaker is out of contract at Cornella-El Prat in June and has already confirmed that he has put negotiations with Espanyol over a potential renewal to one side until the summer.
Despite his message that he will not consider offers from other clubs either during this next six months, Radio Catalunya are running the line that he is already on the verge of signing a contract from 2013-14 with Atletico.
The capital club have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old in previous transfer windows and are believed to have been in talks with the creative talent for a while.
Negotiations are said to be advanced at this stage, with both the player and club said to already be in agreement about the move next summer.
