Antonio Adan has warned that Real Madrid cannot look for players to blame for their defeat at Celta Vigo, only to try to change their attitude.
The reserve goalkeeper played in the first leg Last 16 defeat to Celta, conceding twice, including a long range effort from Cristian Bustos [pictured].
Jose Mourinho insinuated after the game that not all the players pulled their weight, but refused to name names. For Adan, recrimination is not the way forward from this.
“This is no time to find those to blame, instead we need to work hard to overcome the deficit in the second leg at the Bernabeu,” the 25-year-old Madrid native expressed.
“If we have the attitude that we showed at the end of the game then everything would have been different.
“I am not surprised by this result, though, because we knew that Celta are a good team. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal leaves us in the tie and we must now go for it.
“We have not played as we intended and we have been punished for that. We only changed our attitude once we were 2-0 down.
“If we had played like we had in the closing stages then things would have been different. Away from home performances have cost us a lot and that has to improve.
“We have to be more focused.”
