Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini believes that tomorrow’s opponents Getafe are rivals in the race for Champions League qualification.
Getafe, who host Pellegrini’s side at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez tomorrow afternoon, are one of La Liga’s smallest clubs in terms of budget and support but are prospering under Coach Luis Garcia Plaza.
Currently 7th, the Azulones will draw level with 4th placed Malaga if they can defeat them.
“Getafe are a team that is just three points behind us so they are a direct rival fighting for a place in the Champions League,” the Chilean tactician, who was afforded some very high praise by his charge Jeremy Toulalan earlier today , told reporters.
“They are a team that has had a somewhat irregular season but they won their last game and will be a tough opponent in their stadium. They have been working with the same Coach for a couple of years and have some very technically gifted players. Like all opponents they have strengths and weaknesses that we hope to exploit.”
Los Boquerones won this fixture 3-1 last season.
“Last year we had a good game here,” Pellegrini continued. “Hopefully we can repeat it on Saturday.”
