Anquela: Granada have to win

Juan Antonio Anquela has acknowledged that Granada must start winning football matches and that the Copa del Rey presents an ideal place to begin.

El Grana have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions and at the weekend slipped back into the relegation zone.

However, in welcoming Real Zaragoza to Los Carmenes for the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie on Thursday, Coach Anquela sees a chance for the team to change their luck.

“The numbers have not been good. In so far as our play, we have done everything, but there has been more dark than light, so I hope that the situation is reversed, because it is the results that raise your spirits. We need to win and have to start tomorrow,” he declared to reporters.

Zaragoza hold a 1-0 lead heading into the Round of 32 clash.

“What we have to do is play like we did in the first match against Zaragoza when in the League. They are a very competitive team and a great team, very disciplined, very professional.

“We will rotate players but without compensating for competitiveness, because we need to win. At the moment we are not scoring goals. We are creating danger, though, and hopefully tomorrow we can change that fortune that we have so far had in the final few metres of the pitch.”
