Athletic Bilbao striker Ibai Gomez has spoken of his disappointment after the Basque club were eliminated from the Europa League.
Marcelo Bielsa's side were knocked out of the competition last week following Sparta Prague's draw with Olympique Lyonnais, and the 23-year-old has admitted that they 'deserved more' from the group.
“It was really hard last year to get to the final,” he told terra.es. “And now this year we have been eliminated from the group.
“We deserve more, but sometimes that's how football goes. We just have to continue to work hard and make the most of this year.”
He also commented on the team's determination to win on Wednesday as Los Leones travel to Israel to play Hapoel Kiryat in their previously abandoned match.
“We have to defend the colours of our team,” he said. “We want to make the club proud, and although we are out, we are still going there to win.
“It will be an opportunity for the squad members who maybe haven't played a lot, and we will play to prove what we can give to the team.”
