Real Valladolid have a slight advantage heading into the second leg of their Copa del Rey clash with Real Betis thanks to Alberto Bueno’s goal.
The game’s only goal proved inspired and decisive in a match that could have had more goals.
From the left running into a crowded penalty box on 40 minutes, Lolo chipped an effort over the goalkeeper for Bueno to jump up and volley into the net with both feet off the ground.
The home side had to play out the final 25 minutes of the game with 10 men after Henrique Sereno was shown his marching orders for a clash with Betis’ Damien Perquis away from the action.
Valladolid will defend their advantage in three weeks’ time away to Pepe Mel’s team in the second leg of this round of 32 Cup clash.
