Lionel Messi's individual brilliance has been recognised with the Golden Boot, but the Argentine has sought to credit his Barcelona teammates.
Messi was presented with the Golden Boot in a ceremony in Barcelona today, having been the top scorer in Europe last season with 50 La Liga goals. It is the second time he has won the award.
“I thank my family, my teammates and everyone who has been around me,” said the 25-year-old.
“I share this award with all of them. Without them, it would be impossible to win it. It's a group award, that's something I've always been told but its reality – without my teammates I would not have scored all these goals.”
Messi also stressed his loyalty to the Barca cause.
“My dream is to finish my career at Barcelona.”
Teammates Xabi Hernandez and Carles Puyol were present at the ceremony, as was Blaugrana President Sandro Rosell.
