Levante midfielder Vicente Iborra insists Los Granotes will try to win the Copa del Rey despite being involved in three competitions.
The Valencia-based club have been drawn against Melilla in the last 32 but Iborra stressed that it is not in Levante’s make-up to take it easy when playing for any trophy, despite the demands it could place on Juan Ignacio Martinez’s squad.
“We have the greatest respect for Melilla because there have already been cases where Segunda B sides have eliminated Primera teams, but we will try to play well to reach the next round,”
“This team will not take it easy. Maybe we suffered a little bit through games in La Liga and the Copa del Rey last year, but we are ambitious and want to go as far as we can in any competition and we’ll be giving it our all,” Iborra told a Press conference.
He also acknowledged that Levante face a difficult month on three fronts with games in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League, although he insists the players are ready for it.
“We have a very tough November coming up but we are prepared. It could be that we will need to take at least a point from every away game, or even win, and that’s what we’ll be concentrating hard on doing.”
On Sunday’s match with Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Iborra believes the absence of Abdel Barrada could be beneficial to Levante.
“He is one of the best players in the League and has been in very good form, but I’m sure there will be someone else to cause us problems,” he explained.
