According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal have made a formal offer for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their attacking options in January and are believed to have submitted a bid of €20m for the Spanish international.
The same publication insists the London club’s boss Arsene Wenger has now discounted the possibility of signing Athletic Bilbao hitman Fernando Llorente as he is too similar to Olivier Giroud, and has instead turned his attention to Adrian who was originally his second choice.
Even so, Los Rojiblancos will fight tooth and nail to keep the 24-year-old at the Vicente Calderon, despite mounting debts, and Arsenal will not find it easy to lure the player away from the Spanish capital during the winter transfer market.
Nonetheless, Atletico boss Diego Simeone could find it difficult to hold on to Adrian come next summer.
