France’s mission to take points from Spain next week is not complicated by their friendly defeat to Japan yesterday, says Mamadou Sakho.
Les Bleus fell to a surprise 1-0 reverse at the Stade de France to the Japanese on Friday evening, but for Paris Saint-Germain man Sakho, it hasn’t made the trip to the Vicente Calderon next Tuesday any harder.
“Why is it now a 'commando mission'? It will be a tough game, we know that. We must regroup and go there mentally prepared,” the defender retorted to reporters after his team’s game.
“Is it easy to forget this defeat? No, because we are competitors. This [Friday] evening, it will be necessary to reflect a little, we will question things.
“I have heard they [Spain] won, good for them. Honestly, who cares. They can score four or 10, that’s their problem. We are focused on our goals.”
