French international Franck Ribery says his country is out for revenge in their World Cup qualifier against Spain next Tuesday.
Les Bleus take on Vicente del Bosque’s men at Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon Stadium and Bayern Munich winger Ribery is aware they must play the game of their lives to come away with a positive result.
“We are very motivated and must turn up with the great belief that we can win. During the 90 minutes we will have to give everything and work like crazy,” the 29-year-old told a Press conference after training in Clairefontaine on Wednesday evening.
France were beaten 2-0 by Spain at the quarter-final stage of last summer’s European Championships, a game in which he felt the French players were in awe of their Spanish counterparts.
“We showed them too much respect and had little ambition. Spain have some very good players who dominate everything and we know that down there it is going to be tough.
“We will need to perform well in defence and a good result would be tremendous for us,” said Ribery.
