President of the National Sports Council (CSD) Miguel Cardenal has praised La Liga's clubs for their newfound financial responsibility.
Cardenal told AS that the protocol signed last April, in which Spain's clubs agreed to curb their spiralling combined debt to the tax office [Hacienda], was 'working well.'
“There are obvious signs that the attitude of the clubs is much more financially responsible. Most of them have made clear cuts to their debt and some have completely cancelled it.”
Cardenal also chose to highlight the income La Liga brings to the state via the sale of television rights outside Spain.
“It is a number that has grown exponentially and is in the public coffers.”
