Joan Verdu’s availability for Espanyol this weekend is in doubt as he struggles with an injury picked up in the team's previous game.
During the Catalans’ 3-2 defeat to Levante, the midfielder sustained a sprained ankle that eventually forced him off close to the hour mark.
The ailment was later described by the club as minor, with his availability for Los Periquitos’ next match, this weekend against Athletic Bilbao all but guaranteed.
However, it is now looking less likely that the player will be fit, with further tests now required on the same ankle, after the player complained of pain when training on it today.
