Young Inter striker Samuele Longo has excitedly confirmed his loan move to Espanyol via his twitter account.
The Italian forward made a name for himself by helping the Milan club's youth team to win the NextGen series earlier this year, scoring five goals throughout the tournament, including one in the final against Ajax.
Now that his former youth team boss Andrea Stramaccioni is in charge of Inter's senior team, Longo was expected to see action in Serie A this term, but the arrival of Antonio Cassano from city rivals Milan last week put an end to those hopes.
Although neither club has released anything official, the 20-year-old has used his twitter feed to confirm he leaves for Spain today.
“Finally today I depart!” the post read. “I can't wait to start this new adventure. Vamos periquitos!”
Longo has scored once in two appearances for the Italian Under-21 side. Both clubs will be hoping he proves as much of a success as Philippe Coutinho, who is now starring in Inter's first team after spending five months on loan at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat last season.
It is a timely boost for Mauricio Pochettino's side, who sit third bottom of La Liga having lost both of their games so far.
