Valencia and Deportivo played out an entertaining affair at Mestalla on Sunday night, ultimately sharing six goals between them.
Los Che were 3-1 up by half-time thanks to a double from Roberto Soldado – including a notable acrobatic second – and a goal from Sofiane Feghouli, with Abel Aguilar netting Depor’s.
After the break, a clever flick from Aguilar reduced the deficit to just the one goal, before the visitors drew level through Pizzi’s converted penalty.
Ricardo Costa’s second yellow in conceding that spot-kick also meant the home side played the final 15 minutes down to 10 men.
Both teams pressed for a winner into stoppage time, but the final score finished 3-3.
