Javi Martinez has said that he is just focusing on staying in shape at Athletic Bilbao and hopes for a resolution in his transfer to Bayern Munich soon.
The midfielder has been the subject of negotiations between his Basque employers and the Bavarians, but progress has stalled and his reputed €40m transfer is looking uncertain.
“I know that the Press in Germany is very interested in me and in my life,” he told Bild.
“It’s crazy. It is a great feeling to have seen so much interest in me from Germany.
“I can’t say much though. I’m relaxed, I’m training, I am trying to stay in shape and wait for a decision. More than that I cannot do.”
Stefan Effenberg was vocal in his disapproval of his former side being prepared to spend that much on Martinez, to which the Spaniard was diplomatic.
“It is completely normal for a great player from a team to have a say. This is not a problem and I understand completely.”
