Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe has thanked Coach Marcelo Bielsa for substituting him in his side’s defeat to Real Betis last weekend.
The 23-year-old was pulled off midway through the first half of the team’s first game of the season, as the side struggled towards the break 3-0 down.
However, Iturraspe is grateful to his Coach for having taken the decision during the match, which the Basques went on to lose 5-3.
“It was a technical decision that needed to be taken,” insisted the No 8 today.
“It is a difficult one to make in the world of football, but he [Bielsa] knew I was playing badly. I think I was playing very badly indeed.
“I am currently going through a low point in my career, with a poor patch of form. But I will get back to my best very soon,” assured the defensive midfielder.
Iturraspe was talking ahead of the Basque outfit’s trip to the Vicente Calderon to face Atletico Madrid on Monday night.
