Celta Vigo goalkeeper Javi Varas doesn't believe fans should be discouraged by the club's opening day defeat to Malaga.
Contesting their first La Liga match for five years, the Galicians put in a creditable performance on Saturday only to lose out to a late goal scored by teen Fabrice Olinga.
“The League has only just begun and there is no need to be nervous after a single match,” Varas opined.
“We gave it our all and nothing was out of place, but Malaga will always pose a threat. The best way to forget about Saturday’s defeat is to beat Real Sociedad this weekend,” the 29-year-old added.
“It will be very difficult but this team has more than enough firepower to impose itself in the top flight.”
Varas was Celta's headline summer signing, arriving from Sevilla in July after former Villarreal man Diego Lopez looked set to take his place at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
