Teenager Oliver Torres is thankful for making his Atletico Madrid last night but refutes any comparisons to other players.
The highly rated 17-year-old came on late in the second half against Levante, replacing Adrian Lopez in the 1-1 draw at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia.
“It is a dream come true,” said the young midfielder. “I’m very proud of all the hard work I have put in to get this debut.
“I am grateful to the entire team for their unrivalled support. I have learnt a lot from my fellow professionals and will continue to learn. “The best thing is that I am in a great environment that helps me tremendously.”
The Spanish Under-19 international has grown tired of being likened to more renowned players, however.
“Comparisons do not help me develop into my own person. I like to carry the ball forward and create space for others around me. That’s the type of player I really am.”
Torres has already been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea. Fellow youngster Kader Ouelasti also made his official debut for Atletico soon after Oliver had come on.
