Real Sociedad boss Philippe Montanier believes Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona side is a continuation of Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Frenchman, in his second season as Txuri-urdin Coach, saw his side taken apart by a rampant Barca in the opening 45 minutes and feels not much has changed since Guardiola’s departure.
“Tito’s Barca is a continuation of Pep’s Barca in that they want to win the title. I saw a lot of motivation and concentration in their players,’ Montanier told assembled media.
“I knew it would be a tough match but we started the first half badly in giving a goal away from a corner.
“We should have been better defensively from the beginning. It was a serious obstacle to overcome against a team that plays at such a high level.”
Montanier, however, was pleased with his players’ reaction to get back to 1-1 with Chori Castro’s goal, but admitted that ‘when it got to 4-1 it was almost impossible to get a good result’.
“The scoreline was hard on us but we will get our heads back up. I’m sure of that,” he added.
