Villarreal striker Fernando Cavenaghi says it is only the start after his two goals gave his new side victory against Real Madrid B.
The Argentine striker was on the mark on the stroke of half-time and earned the Yellow Submarine all three points 10 minutes from time after Jese has given the Madrid second string a 15th minute lead from the penalty spot.
“That was a dream start but it cannot stop at that. This is just the beginning.
“Scoring two goals was just perfect and I sincerely want to continue on the same path,” declared Cavenaghi at a Press conference.
The 28-year-old insists he is excited at the prospect of playing for Villarreal this season after his summer signing from River Plate, even if it is in the second tier of Spanish football.
“I had no doubts about coming here because it is a big club, although it is now in La Segunda. I hope to have a great year and a winning start was critical to us, so we are very happy.
“I said goodbye to River as captain and leading goalscorer and I couldn’t have asked for any more. However, I am now at Villarreal and will give 100 per cent as my batteries are recharged.
“I decided to get away from what is happening in Argentina and I don’t even watch the games on television because I want to focus on my career here,” he added.
The only disappointing aspect of the evening was the poor crowd of 8,000 that turned out at El Madrigal.
