Atletico Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz has admitted that the atmosphere within the club is not good.
The 31-year-old, having his third spell with the club following his €2.5m signing from Valencia in the summer, says the build-up to the La Liga opener against Betis on Sunday has been overshadowed by the controversy surrounding Fernando Llorente and Javi Martinez’s proposed exits from San Mames.
“It has not been a tasteful dish for anyone, even more so for a club like Athletic, but that’s football.
“We have to try and do our best in situations such as these and try and concentrate on our work,” Aduritz told a Press conference.
The San Sebastian-born player added that there was ‘an atmosphere’ in the dressing room and that ‘the players are aware of what is happening’.
However, he insisted that the team ‘must try and distance itself as much as possible’ from these events and focus solely on the visit of Betis.
