Real Betis are reported to be in advanced negotiations with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg for the €10m sale of midfielder Benat Etxeberria.
The creative midfielder rose to prominence with Los Beticos during the club’s successful battle against relegation last term and has since attracted a lot of attention. The No 10 also made his Spain debut earlier this summer.
Whilst Betis have made steps to tie down the 25-year-old to a new contract, the player has yet to sign on and has instead been linked with a move to Athletic Bilbao.
However, the Verdiblancos are said today to be in ‘advanced talks’ with Wolfsburg over a €10m transfer Benat. AS report that the midfielder, who has a buy-out clause of €20m, is unlikely to feature in his club’s opening game of the season, which is against Athletic, due to the closeness of a deal being reached.
Recent months have linked the player with Russia, with one offer of €9m already turned down before Unai Emery’s Spartak Moscow reportedly unsuccessfully bid €4m for him in June.
