Pep Guardiola’s agent has dismissed reports linking his client with the coaching position with the Brazilian national team.
Reports earlier this week suggested that preliminary talks between the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the former Barcelona Coach had taken place, in light of pressure on current boss Mano Menezes’ future.
However, speaking today to sports daily Lance, Josep Maria Orobitg moved to suggest that those were untrue.
“There has never been any contact with the CBF,” he stated. “I talk often with Pep and have been instructed not to negotiate with anyone, because he only wants to rest.”
Guardiola is currently on a sabbatical from the game, after spending four years in charge at the Camp Nou.
“He is living in New York, is happy with his wife and children, who are already enrolled at school.”
Orobitg admitted that there had recently been an offer from the Russian national team, but this had been turned down.
“It’s hard to talk about the future, but I do not think Pep will prefer Brazil as a choice, because he loves football at club level and particularly in Europe.”
