Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan continues to be linked with a return to Turkey and his former club Galatasaray.
According to AMK newspaper, Atleti chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin was in Istanbul this week to talk business over Turan, despite the Turkish international himself saying only this week that he was happy in Madrid and would like to remain with the club.
The publication claims Gil Marin, the son of former Atletico President and mayor of Marbella Jesus Gil, met Galatasaray President Unal Aysal and Vice-President Ali Durust along with the player’s agent Ahmet Bulut.
The Turkish Press also maintains that Los Rojiblancos would like to take Ricardo Quaresma from Besiktas to the Vicente Calderon.
The former Barcelona, Porto and Inter winger is not part of Coach Samet Aybaba’s plans for next season and is believed to welcome the chance of a return to La Liga, while Besiktas would like Diego Costa to move in the opposite direction.
However, Quaresma’s €3.7m-a-year salary could prove a major stumbling block as the Madrid club are unwilling to pay such an amount for a player whose career has appeared to stall over the past few seasons.
