The Spanish Football Federation has announced it will not be renewing the contract of Spain Olympic and Under-21 boss Luis Milla.
A statement said that the current agreement with physical fitness Coach Juan Carlos Martinez Castrejo would also not be extended.
The Federation added that it wished to show its appreciation for the work done by Milla and Castrejo since their appointments in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Milla, in particular, has paid the price for the disappointing Spain showing at the London Olympics, when his team failed to register a single goal in the competition and exited at the group stage despite being pre-tournament favourites.
The Spain Under-21 team’s next two games see them face Switzerland in Sion on September 6 before taking on Croatia in Alicante in Alicante four days later, when Under-19 Coach Julen Lopetegui will take temporary charge.
