Valencia are preparing a bid for Sporting Lisbon’s highly-rated Argentine left-back Emiliano Insua, according to A Bola.
Jeremy Mathieu is now the only recognised left-hand sided player in the Valencia squad since the departure of Jordi Alba to Barcelona, and boss Mauricio Pellegrino has desperately been searching for his replacement.
Insua, 23, was bought from Liverpool last summer for an undisclosed fee after four years at Anfield and has a contract until June 2017.
However, despite it containing a €30m rescission clause the Portuguese media believe Sporting may be willing to do business at around €10m.
The player has a superb first season in Portugal, playing a total of 45 games and starting all but one of them as he kept Brazilian Evaldo out of the starting line-up, and also contributing with six goals, four of them in the Europa League.
Fast and powerful, Insua rediscovered his best form at the Estadio Jose Alvalade after a year on loan at Galatasaray and could follow in the steps of Joao Pereira, who left Sporting a few weeks ago to join Valencia in a €4m deal.
