Villarreal defender Gonzalo Rodriguez says he prepared leave his options open with regards to next season.
The Argentine international is aware the Yellow Submarine want to sell him, with President Fernando Roig looking to balance the books after suffering relegation to La Segunda last season, yet the 28-year-old insists any move will need to be the right one for him if he is to depart El Madrigal.
“For me to leave it would need to be a good offer that gives me security in a sporting sense, but if not then I will carry on here,” Gonzalo told Marca.
Favourites to land his signature looked to have been former club San Lorenzo de Almagro, whom he left to join Villarreal in July 2004, but the centre-back is not convinced it would be the correct choice.
“Right now San Lorenzo are in a stage of transition and are only centred on that.
“It is a club that does not have a President and are actually in chaos, so at the moment I am not thinking of going there.
“It seems the clubs have reached an agreement but nobody has spoken to me,” he explained.
