Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci has insisted in an interview with Stuttgarter Nachrichten that Barcelona want to sign him.
“I know through an intermediary that Barcelona want me although there has so far been no direct contact,” declared the 25-year-old.
“I am aware that if Barca are looking to strengthen their defence then there will be many candidates, so at the moment I am just concentrating on Stuttgart.”
Tasci, who has a contract with the Bundesliga club until 2014, is known for his outstanding passing and aerial ability and would command a fee of around €11m.
Born in Esslingen to Turkish parents, Tasci has been with Stuttgart all his professional career and has represented Germany 14 times, making his international debut in August 2008 in a 2-0 victory over Belgium in Nuremburg.
