Italian Roberto De Zerbi is set to be announced as the new Coach of Las Palmas, according to multiple reports in Spain.
The 37-year-old is relatively inexperienced as a manager with spells of Italian lower league sides Darfo Boaria and Foggia – where he won the Coppa Italia Lega Pro in 2016 – before being appointed at Palermo in September 2016 but lasted less than three months in the role.
Los Amarillos are managerless as Quique Setien announced earlier this season he would not renew his contract – and looks to be bound for Real Betis – and Cope’s El Partidazo show on Tuesday reported a deal was close, with follow up reports in Marca and Diario Sport concurring.
This is despite president Miguel Angel Ramirez’s previous insistence that the club’s new Coach would be Spanish.
Following a hugely impressive first half of La Liga, Las Palmas fell away from the top half and ultimately finished 14th with new signings failing to make an impact and uncertainty surrounding the management.
