Sevilla and Atletico Madrid reportedly agreed the terms of Luciano Vietto’s loan, ahead of Barcelona and separate to Kevin Gameiro’s transfer.
Diario de Sevilla says the Europa League holders will pay €3.5m to take Vietto for a year and a fee of €20m has also been agreed if Sevilla want to make the move permanent at the end of the loan deal, but that isn’t a binding clause.
Vietto could now travel with Sevilla to their pre-season camp in Germany and join in training on Tuesday evening if all the loose ends are tied up in time.
It’s stressed that Vietto to Sevilla is not a quid-pro-quo for Gameiro to Atletico and Sevilla have rejected a number of approaches for the France international, the latest of which saw Atletico offer €30m plus €5m in bonuses as Sevilla hold out for €40m.
Sporting director Monchi is though looking at replacements for Gameiro as Jorge Sampaoli wanted an extra forward in his squad, and Toulouse’s Wissam Ben Yeder is back on the agenda, but his arrival is conditional on Gameiro’s exit.
Ben Yedder has been preferred to Deportivo La Coruna’s Lucas Perez in part because he is younger, and also because Depor refused to negotiate a price for Perez.
Diario de Sevilla also notes Sevilla interest in Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo, rating Parejo as short of a priority for Sampaoli but that could change if Vicente Iborra does leave.
