Villarreal President Fernando Roig has confirmed that his club are on the verge of signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado.
The Yellow Submarine have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old for the past week, and the patron revealed “small details” were all that was needed for the player to finalise his transfer to El Madrigal, thereby ending a disappointing two years in north London.
“[Regarding Soldado, only] small details [are needed],” he was quoted as telling Marca.
Roig also claimed Soldado’s arrival did not break the club’s economic structure, only that a significant effort was made to bring in a player of his calibre, according to the newspaper.
On the departure of Gerard Moreno to Espanyol, the supremo noted: “Gerard competed and did well for Villarreal.
“His exit was good for all three parties concerned and we can only wish him well.”
