Iniesta: US? We’ll see…

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has refused to rule out a future spell in the United States but insists such a move would not occur until 2018.

Speaking to the Press in Los Angeles, where the treble winners are currently residing for their North American tour, the maestro made it clear that he would not consider following in the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Steven Gerrard’s footsteps until his contract expired in three years’ time.

“The socis have decided that the right man is Bartomeu, and hopefully we’ll enjoy the same fate as last season,” he told reporters in Los Angeles.

“We miss Xavi. He was a person who was loved [by the club].

“I don’t know if we can improve on last season, but more incredible challenges await us.

“In 2018 [when my contract expires], I’ll be 34. We’ll see what happens [regarding a possible move to the United States].

“The only future I’m thinking about is next season. I’m not thinking beyond that.”
