Valencia are reportedly leading the race to sign Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou as a replacement for Nicolas Otamendi.
The Cameroon international is quoted by Marca as being “desperate” to leave L’OM and join a club in La Liga, and Los Che appear increasingly likely to be that team.
The newspaper claims Marseille President Vicente Labrune met with super-agent and Valencia advisor Jorge Mendes a few months ago and discussed player recruitment.
It is understood that N’Koulou, who has also been linked with the likes of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid in the past, could depart Stade Velodrome for as little as €8m this summer.
Valencia, meanwhile, are in no rush to sell Otamendi thanks to their qualification for next season’s Champions League playoffs and are holding out for around €40m.
N’Koulou has also received an offer from Lyon, who too will figure in the upcoming edition of Europe’s elite club competition, but will reportedly wait until Valencia formalise their interest.
The 25-year-old is currently coached by former Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa.
