Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti believes Carlo Ancelotti must look to his younger players following the two points dropped against Villarreal.
The 38-year-old, who spent 16 years with the club before moving to Besiktas in 2010, acknowledged the Italian’s team is not going through the best of times at the moment and feels youth is the answer.
“Real Madrid are not playing well at the moment but I want to see a Madrid that do well against good opponents and dominate possession,” Gut told El Chiringuito.
“They don’t have that fifth gear they had in the first few months of the season and they are going to suffer against the big teams, those that want the ball.
“The team right now is very flat. They have players in midfield who don’t fit the profile of creative footballers.
“The absences of [Luka] Modric and James [Rodriguez] is a blow because what [Asier] Illarramendi and Lucas Silva bring is not the same.
“I don’t believe there are no players in the youth team who can fit the profile of Modric or James. We should be thinking more about the youngsters.
“You need to analyse the squad and see what is the best system for games such as the one against Villarreal.
“It’s true Madrid could have got a second goal but Villarreal could also have won it,” he claimed.
